The Brief

NextG-Com develops cellular protocol stack technology specialising in embedded wireless communication solutions based on LTE/3G/2G 3GPP, Satellite and M2M standards. NextG-Com asked Intralink to target IoT SoC companies in China and Taiwan who would be interested in licensing their protocol stack source code.

The Approach

We met directly with decision-makers in the IoT and LTE modem space, with targets including HiSilicon, Spreadtrum, RDA, Mediatek, VeriSilicon, Xinwei, VIA Telecom, Realtek, Nufront, Rockchip and Sercomm. The key was to go through a disciplined process to understand their various needs and roadmaps and, based on key criteria, filter down to a short list of the most interesting prospective customers.

The Result

Intralink secured two licensing deals initially worth around $300k and also helped NextG-Com secure a partnership with Verisilicon, the leading SoC design service company in China. Partly due to the traction in Asia, NextG-Com went on to be acquired by Arm in 2017.
