Intralink delivers high-impact tech mission

Intralink, the leading firm of East Asia specialists which develops and executes market strategies for companies entering China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, has this week delivered a major technology “megamission” for the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) in South Korea.

The trade mission, which included over 30 British technology companies in the fields of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, the Internet of Things and cybersecurity, showcased the UK’s technology capabilities to a wide-ranging business audience in South Korea. As part of the two-day visit to the South Korean capital Seoul, Intralink organised almost 200 “B2B” meetings between the UK delegates and leading South Korean companies, including Samsung, LG, Hyosung, telecommunications carriers SK and KT, among many others.

Intralink Managing Director in Korea, Jonathan Cleave, said: “South Korea has long been an important market for British technologies and in the light of the UK’s decision to leave the European single market, we are seeing fast-growing interest in this and the other East Asian economies. As a business that has been active in the region for over 25 years, we were able to draw on our extensive network to secure relevant and senior-level meetings for all companies on this mission."

DIT’s Head of Trade Development and Strategy in South Korea, Cindy Kim, commented: “The opportunity for British technologies in South Korea is huge. Intralink has been instrumental in our ability to deliver such a high-impact trade mission and we are confident that deals between British and Korean companies will result from the introductions and meetings that Intralink has organised.”

The technology mission now moves on to Japan, where the delegates will meet with leading Japanese companies and attend a reception at the British ambassador’s residence in Tokyo.
