Intralink establishes permanent presence in Taiwan

Oxford, UK — Intralink announced today that it has opened an office in Taiwan. Located in the capital city Taipei, the new office will support Intralink’s clients with an interest in developing the Taiwanese market and working with the island’s leading companies, many of which are players on the global stage.

“By establishing a permanent presence in Taiwan, we will be able to build on our existing ties with the island’s world-class OEMs, ODMs and EMS providers. This will directly benefit our clients, many of whom are active in Taiwan’s key high-tech industries,” said Intralink CEO, Gregory Sutch.

Intralink provides market access, business development and investment coordination services to clients targeting Greater China and Japan. The company has been active in Asia for 20 years, establishing its Tokyo office in 1995 and its Shanghai office in 2002. In the intervening years, the importance of Taiwan has grown as many companies on the island have become an integral part of cross-border value chains supplying the leading OEMs in Japan, United States and Europe.

“It is no longer good enough to talk about a Japan or China strategy,” said Gregory Sutch. “Any company working in the mobile handset, consumer electronics or personal computer sectors, to name but a few, has to have a regional strategy that covers all of the major markets in north-east Asia. That includes Taiwan.”

Taiwan is home to world leaders in a range of high-tech industries: Acer and Asus in personal computers; D-Link and Zyxel in networking equipment; HTC and Garmin in handheld electronics; Foxconn and Sinbon in the provision of electronic manufacturing services; and perhaps most famously TSMC and UMC in semiconductor fabrication. The island is a pioneer of research and development in new fields, such as clean and nano technologies, and it is also an important consumer market with a population of 23 million and per capita disposable incomes among the highest in Asia.
