Intralink works with Economic Development Organisations to provide an in-country presence in Asia’s leading economies. We help EDOs meet their economic development goals by promoting their region as a destination for inward investment or by growing their companies’ exports. Clients include the US states of Colorado, Maine, Missouri, South Carolina and Washington; Canadian provinces such as Alberta and British Columbia; and national EDOs from countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Israel.

Our experience ranges from providing in-country representation and organising governor-led missions, to supporting trade shows and recruiting for seminars and B2B matchmaking events. Working across multiple market sectors, we have an in-depth knowledge of many thousands of companies in the region, including their buying needs and future expansion plans, and an extensive network of senior-level contacts. Our presence and experience across East Asia – in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan – enables us to offer both territory-specific and cross-region solutions.

Embassy of G8 country

The Brief

This Embassy asked Intralink to arrange and host a promotional seminar and investment matchmaking session on behalf of multiple municipal economic development agencies that were to visit the region. The objective was to assist in raising the country’s visibility through targeted investment outreach.

The Approach

Intralink spent time with the Embassy and municipal agencies to understand the value proposition and agree key target criteria. Based on this we identified a long list of several hundred potential investors across multiple sectors, and through a series of calls and meetings honed into a final list of qualified companies to invite to the seminar and attend relevant B2B meetings.

The Outcome

Intralink secured 75 attendees and arranged over 100 B2B meetings – twice the agreed target. We had 5 team members at the event overseeing logistics, facilitating translation, and providing commercial guidance to lay the ground for revenue-generating engagements.

Joseph is based in Intralink’s Seoul office and has experience managing programs for Economic Development Organisations looking to export to, and seek inward investment from, Korea. He has worked with a range of clients that include the Israeli Embassy, the Canadian Embassy and the US State of Missouri. Joseph is originally from the United States and studied Industrial Engineering and International Studies at Texas A&M University. He is fluent in Korean.

Richard heads up Intralink's Trade & Investment group, managing client relationships and ensuring consistent delivery across all our offices in East Asia.
Prior to joining Intralink, Richard worked for UK Trade & Investment, helping British companies develop their business interests in Japan and Japanese companies expand their operations in the UK. Since then, he has overseen the trade promotion and FDI activities of several US states and Canadian provinces - including Missouri, Washington and Alberta - as well as the national EDOs of Israel, Canada and the Republic of Ireland.
