Licensing deal for US healthtech client with Korea’s largest teleco - Intralink

We’re happy to have secured a licensing deal between our mental wellbeing technology client Sonde Health and KT Corporation, South Korea’s largest telecoms operator. Under this arrangement, KT Corporation will harness Sonde’s vocal biomarker technology to deliver mental health support to people across South Korea.

Boston-based Sonde Health's technology (pictured) uses audio signal processing, speech science and machine learning algorithms trained on more than a million global voice samples to help people monitor their mental wellbeing. It analyses simple, 30-second voice recordings and provides actionable insights to help users manage conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder. 

$21 billion revenue KT Corporation will now integrate Sonde's technology into the digital platform it is developing to provide mental health services in South Korea.

Our team in Seoul first started working with Sonde Health in spring 2023 to identify healthcare, insurance, consumer electronics and other corporations in South Korea which could be interested in incorporating its technology. We closed the first deal for our client last December with a major insurance company, alongside work to foster commercial relationships with KT Corporation and other potential Korean customers.

Sonde Health’s CEO, David Liu, said: “Our voices are an early indicator of our mental fitness. This collaboration with KT will empower South Koreans with valuable insights so they can be proactive in managing their mental wellbeing.

The deal with KT is the latest part of Sonde’s strategy to accelerate global adoption of its technology, which is already being used by life insurers, pharmaceutical companies and wellness providers around the world.
