Launching ‘AI for space’ leader Antaris in Japan

Written by Intralink | Mar 18, 2026 7:59:59 AM

We have been appointed to assist AI satellite platform leader Antaris as it expands into Japan.

Antaris has developed an AI-powered platform called Antaris IntelligenceTM which simplifies the design, simulation, manufacturing and operation of satellites. Its advanced technology is rapidly being adopted by US Department of War agencies, as well as multiple US defence contractors including Lockheed Martin.

Given the current geopolitical environment, one of the fastest-growing and most important areas of space technology has been the distributed, global development of Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) constellations. These networks of satellites work together to observe the Earth and deliver persistent, near-real-time situational awareness information. Increasingly regarded as critical infrastructure for defence and national security, these systems have been attracting a growing share of the space sector’s investment and are driving critical space technology innovations.

Antaris’ AI-driven technology significantly reduces satellite development timelines while improving mission planning and operational readiness. By enabling faster, simpler and more cost-effective mission execution, its platform is particularly well-suited to organisations looking to realise ISR constellations.

Antaris has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Saudi-based SARsatX to support the development of a 16-satellite ISR constellation to meet Saudi Arabian sovereign demand and serve the broader Gulf region. The company was previously involved in building and delivering Earth observation satellites for other sovereign nations.

As Antaris continues its international expansion, Japan is a natural next step. The country is investing heavily in space and defence technology and maintains a robust satellite manufacturing base, including major players such as MELCO and NEC.

Expanding into Japan will allow Antaris to tap into this significant market and position its platform for use in major ISR and commercial projects worldwide. The company is also committed to supporting bi-directional trade by encouraging inward foreign direct investment that strengthens existing and emerging space ecosystem players, while enabling export growth and international sales.

Our Tokyo team is now launching a business development programme for Antaris, beginning with the identification and prioritisation of commercial opportunities in Japan’s space sector. This will be followed by targeted engagement with satellite operators, manufacturers and other Japanese partners and customers.

Antaris CEO and Co-Founder, Tom Barton, said: Japan is already one of the world’s most important space markets and it’s making major investments in satellite-based ISR and communications capabilities.

Intralink’s Tokyo team has deep relationships across the Japanese defence and commercial satellite sectors. The team’s expertise and local presence will be essential as we bring the Antaris Intelligence platform to Japan and support the next wave of ISR and commercial space programmes.

"Having been to Japan more than 40 times, I have a long-standing personal interest in the Japanese market and in supporting this important effort.”
