Spanish biotech client strikes out with own Chinese operation - Intralink

It’s rewarding to see our Spanish biotech client BioSystems move on from the business development programme we’ve been delivering in China to set up its own Chinese operation.

We’ve been working with Barcelona-based BioSystems since early 2018 to help the company expand in China.

Our work has included:

• market assessments to give BioSystems a thorough understanding of the opportunities in China’s clinical chemistry, fermented beverage and bioprocessing sectors
• sales programmes to drive take-up of its technologies
• partner support
• representation of the company at exhibitions including CACLP, China’s largest in vitro diagnostics (IVD) expo, and
• initiation of research programmes with three Chinese institutes

This has established a strong foothold in the country for BioSystems and paved the way for it to set up its own Chinese company – Shanghai BioSystems Biotechnology Ltd – and recruit its first two China-based employees.

The operation will provide BioSystems with its own Shanghai-based interface with its Chinese partners, customers and suppliers. Its new team will also build on the relationships we initiated for the company with Chinese biotech scientists, healthcare professionals and government authorities.
