We’re celebrating a great result in Japan for our British medical devices client, Owen Mumford Pharmaceutical Services, whom we’ve helped to establish a successful partnership with Nipro Corporation, the Osaka-based healthcare giant.
The partnership will see Nipro Corporation exclusively distributing Owen Mumford’s UniSafe® 1mL product in Japan. UniSafe is a unique, springless, pre-filled safety syringe for the self-injection market, designed to be more reliable and easier to use than other products available.
Our work on this partnership started in 2017 with an opportunity assessment for Owen Mumford in Japan, support for the firm at the Interphex pharmaceutical trade show in Tokyo and initial liaison with potential partners.
It was at Interphex Tokyo that we first caught Nipro’s attention. We’ve supported discussions and partnership negotiations between the two companies since then – including a visit by Nipro’s senior team to Owen Mumford’s offices near Oxford. We’ve also advised our client on regulatory issues in Japan’s medical devices sector.
This is such a rewarding outcome as Nipro is a highly respected Japanese corporation with a strong heritage in innovation. It was established in 1954 and today has 58 business units and 29,000 employees worldwide. Nipro is an ideal partner to sell UniSafe in Japan as it shares a sharp focus on quality with Owen Mumford.
Jarl Severn, Owen Mumford’s Managing Director, said: “It’s clear that healthcare in Japan is showing significant growth, and it’s important for us to work with a partner that shares our commitment to bringing innovative solutions to the market. This is a significant partnership for us and supports our strategic ambitions for global growth.
“Intralink have played a pivotal role in the success of the Nipro distribution agreement. Their support, advice and market intelligence has been delivered in a timely and professional manner. Owen Mumford’s relationship with Intralink is long standing, they’re a trusted service provider and a credible partner when working in Japan.”
