China is the world’s largest automotive market, with 25 million vehicles sold, and Japan is the third largest, ahead of Germany. Vehicles designed and developed in Asia are manufactured and sold all over the world.

We’ve worked with a wide range of CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Electric) and mechanical technologies over the decades and closed hundreds of millions of dollars of supply and licence deals for our clients with Asia’s leading OEMs and tiers. We’ve licensed electric and alternative fuel powertrains for heavy duty commercial and passenger vehicles, embedded and aftermarket telematics for large on and off-highway fleets, connected car and infotainment solutions to the OEMs and tier-1s, emission control systems for trucks and buses, light-weighting materials for passenger cars, and — more recently — technologies that enable the development and operation of autonomous vehicles.

Teconnex appointed us to understand the commercial opportunities in China and secure customers to underpin potential investment in a local manufacturing plant.
 
We met all the key target customers and we developed a business strategy, including detailed revenue targets and an outline of what it would take to achieve significant sales. In parallel to executing the strategy, we identified, vetted and negotiated commercial terms with a JV manufacturing partner.
 
We signed several long-term supply deals worth tens of millions of dollars, helped the JV hire a General Manager and Head of Sales, and continue to support the JV in an advisory role.
