“Ground-breaking” partnerships in Japan for life sciences & software clients

We’ve secured two major partnerships in Japan – for our precision medicine client Personalis and for content governance software firm Acrolinx.

For California-based Personalis, we’ve brokered a research collaboration with Japan’s National Cancer Center Hospital East (NCCHE) and pioneering Japanese immuno-oncotherapy firm Ono Pharmaceutical.

Personalis’ sample-sparing whole-exome sequencing (WES) platform and its highly-sensitive minimal residual disease (MRD) assay will be used in the prestigious ‘VOLTAGE-2’ study led by the NCCHE.

Our Tokyo team has worked with Personalis since early 2020, liaising on its behalf with oncology hospitals and pharmaceutical companies across Japan.

Howard Pan, Director of Business Development at Personalis, said: “The Intralink team has provided exceptional support for our collaboration with the National Cancer Center and Ono Pharma. Their dedication, guidance and expertise were instrumental in securing this ground-breaking partnership, while their deep understanding of Asian business cultures and ability to bridge the gap between industries propelled us towards success.

“They’re an indispensable partner and we look forward to further commercial ventures in Asia together.”

Meanwhile, for German content governance software firm Acrolinx, we’ve secured an important distribution agreement with Hitachi Solutions

Acrolinx’s software platform incorporates artificial intelligence based on a strong language foundation to help companies improve the creation and governance of multilingual documents. Under the agreement, Hitachi Solutions will sell Acrolinx’s technology to Japanese corporations, providing a bespoke system for each company along with technical support.

We’ve worked with Acrolinx since 2020, advising our client early on that finding a highly-reputed distribution partner would be the best way for the company swiftly to build its business in Japan.

We engaged many potential partners to assess their suitability and interest, ultimately recommending Hitachi Solutions as the best candidate based on its strong connections in Acrolinx’s core sectors. And we acted as the primary liaison between the two organisations during an extensive negotiation period to ensure mutual understanding and a smooth process.

Acrolinx, Hitachi & Intralink celebrating the partnership

“The Intralink team has done an excellent job of establishing a sustainable, growing presence for us in Japan, with our partnership with Hitachi an important milestone in our company’s development,” said Dan Nutburn, Acrolinx’s VP of Global Partners & Alliances.

We look forward to seeing both companies continue to go from strength to strength in Japan.
