India growth for cell therapy tech company

Quick navigation
US based life sciences technology company MaxCyte has appointed us to help drive its expansion in India.

The new business development programme will build on our successful work with MaxCyte in China from 2022, where we helped the company to establish its presence by securing significant deals and to tailor its commercial model for the market.

STx@2xListed on the NASDAQ stock exchange, MaxCyte develops electroporation instruments (pictured), single use disposables and buffers for applications including research, clinical and commercial manufacturing for cell therapies, protein production, cell-based assays and gene therapies. In addition, its SeQure gene editing assessment services deliver the highest sensitivity assays to detect on- and off-target effects in gene editing.

MaxCyte has now asked us to help it strengthen its position in India by targeting cell and gene therapy developers, hospitals and distribution partners.

India has become an increasingly attractive market for cell therapy companies. The country’s industry is growing at more than 10% a year, supported by government funding, a push for local manufacturing and initiatives such as BioPharma SHAKTI, a five-year programme to help India move from generic drug production towards higher-value biologics and biosimilars.

The country’s clinical trials sector is also expanding rapidly, while India’s regulator, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, is undergoing a transformation including the recruitment of 1,500 experts to review drug applications.

Our India team will identify and engage priority prospects for MaxCyte across the country’s fast-growing cell and gene therapy ecosystem, while assessing new channel opportunities to support our client’s long-term growth.

Maher-Masoud-1-458x476MaxCyte CEO, Maher Masoud, said:

“India is becoming an increasingly important market for cell and gene therapy innovation, allowing for the democratization of advanced therapies.

“Intralink’s experience in Asia, its biotech industry connections and its previous success with us in China make the team a strong partner as we look to build new commercial relationships in India.”
